Microsoft RoundTable

Microsoft RoundTable is an advanced collaboration and conferencing device that provides meeting participants with an engaging, immersive conferencing experience. Combined with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 or Microsoft Office Live Meeting service (2007), RoundTable provides a 360-degree view of the conference room, wideband audio, and video that tracks the flow of conversation between multiple speakers.

Business Benefits

  • Fully engage all participants. Meeting participants in different locations can converse and share information as if they were physically in the same room.
  • Make collaboration easy and affordable. Intuitive design and plug-and-play functionality make setup simple.
  • Transform meetings into corporate assets. Extend the value of meetings by recording them for later use. Viewers have the same meeting experience with the advantage of fast-forward and rewind controls.

Q: Do customers need to use other Microsoft products in order to use RoundTable?
A: Yes, customers will need access to either Office Communications Server 2007 or access to the Live Meeting 2007 service in order to use of RoundTable. It is important that you clearly communicate this requirement to prospective customers in order to avoid the misperception that RoundTable can be used as a standalone videoconferencing device.

Q: Is RoundTable a standalone device?
A: RoundTable cannot be used as a standalone videoconferencing device. It requires a PC with access to Office Communications Server 2007 or the Live Meeting 2007 service to provide the full user experience. (Customers can either permanently place a PC in each conference room in which a RoundTable is installed, or have one of the meeting attendees connect the RoundTable device to his or her laptop and join the Live Meeting using the laptop.)  However, RoundTable can be used as a standalone, audio-only PSTN speakerphone.

Q: Do RoundTable devices include external dialpads or microphones?
A: Yes, each RoundTable will ship with one external dialpad and two external satellite microphones.

Q: Can RoundTable work with third-party videoconferencing applications or services?
A: RoundTable is only designed to work with the Live Meeting 2007 client application (the front end for both Office Communications Server 2007 and the Live Meeting 2007 service). The Live Meeting 2007 client was also designed from the start to work with RoundTable and support both its active speaker and panoramic video streams. Third-party applications and services may not work with RoundTable. If they do work at all, it is likely that they will only support the active speaker, not the panoramic, video stream.

Q: What if I have additional technical questions on RoundTable?
A. You will be able to obtain support for RoundTable through the standard Microsoft Product Support channel. This channel will handle not just RoundTable technical support questions but also returns, should your RoundTable be defective and we need to ship you a replacement. If this is required, we will give you instructions on how to return your RoundTable and receive a replacement.

All RoundTables include a 1-year warranty and Microsoft will incur the cost of replacing defective RoundTables within the warranty period.

Q: What can I expect once I receive my RoundTable order?
A: Microsoft RoundTable ships with:

  • Base with integrated 360-degree camera
  • Power Data Box
  • Satellite Microphones (2)
  • External Dial Pad
  • User documentation
  • Cables
    • 1 power cable
    • 1 6-ft. telephone cord
    • 1 6-ft. Ethernet cable
  • Telephone line adapter and filter (certain SKUs)

Ordering

Q: Will there be any caps on RoundTable order sizes?
A: There will be no caps on RoundTable order sizes. Q: How can I check the status of my orders?
A: At any time, you can e-mail MCC Billing Department with your order information to check the status of your orders. We will respond promptly with status information.

Q: After I have placed my order and signed the Terms and Conditions, how long will I need to wait for my RoundTable order to arrive?
A: We will ship RoundTable devices via ground shipping (unless requested otherwise) to the shipping address you specify in the order form you submit. After the customer signs the Terms and Conditions, RoundTable devices may take 2 weeks to arrive.

Q: Am I able to get a refund on my RoundTable order?
A: No. While we will replace defective RoundTable devices within the product warranty period, there are no refunds on RoundTable purchases. It is therefore important that you are familiar with the RoundTable system requirements, especially the fact that RoundTable requires Office Communications Server 2007 or the Office Live Meeting 2007 service in order to work, and not assume that RoundTable is a standalone device that will work without this software.
